Miners News Software Article

RKM Mining Software - MicroMODEL, PolyMap, EZVol
These affordable programs provide deposit modeling and mine planning that
have been upgraded to run in Windows.
MicroMODEL is a full-featured deposit modeling and mine planning
software specifically geared towards mine exploration and mine evaluation.
It contains programs for drillhole data entry, statistics, surface modeling,
rock modeling, compositing, geostatistics, variograms, and 3-D grade modeling
including kriging. It is suitable for both hard-rock and industrial minerals
deposits. Mine design and mine planning are performed using a floating
cone optimizer. Detailed mining schedules can be generated using the detailed
scheduling program. MicroMODEL can also be run in seam modeling mode.
This allows the user to effectively model layered deposits such as coal,
laterites, aggregate quarries, etc.
MicroMODEL includes a simple map digitizing program that can be used
to enter topography and geology. Contour maps can be easily generated
using the built-in contouring software. All map output from MicroMODEL
can be exported to AutoCAD DXF format. Alternatively, MicroMODEL has its
own system for adding annotation such as scales, legends, labels, etc.
PolyMap mining software is an interactive graphical input and
display program for both geologic data and open pit mine design. It enhances
the capabilities of MicroMODEL. PolyMap simplifies map digitizing of complex
geology. Geology can be digitized in sections or plans, and the intercepts
from one set of maps can be easily transferred to another set (for example,
section to plan). PolyMaps interactive pit design program allows
the user to design open pits using single or multiple benching, variable
slopes (by rock type), and variable road grades and widths.
EZVol is an interactive stockpile software tool which allows the
user to calculate stockpile volumes based on a survey of the base perimeter
plus a survey of the stockpile surface. EZVol displays the stockpile volume
in cubic feet, cubic yards, or cubic meters. The user can enter a density
factor for the stockpile material, and the program will display the total
weight of the stockpile.
Display options include survey points, TIN (Triangulated Network) surfaces,
contour plot of stockpile thickness, and 3-D solid mesh view. The 3-D
display can be viewed at various angles, and at a range of vertical exaggeration
scales. Interfaces exist for Trimble POS, enCampo, Laser Atlanta, or generic
XYZ data. Free demos of the three programs can be downloaded from the

GrapherTM 8
Grapher is a powerful graphing program for all complex graphing needs.
It is designed for scientists, engineers, and business professionals.
A few of Graphers new features are listed below.
A new radar graph (spider plot) has been added. This new graph
has a similar appearance to other radial graphs, except there are multiple
radial axes and no angle axis. A radar graph is a graphical method of
displaying multiple variables. Comparisons between multiple radar plots
typically show trends in your data. You can change every portion of your
plot to fit your own preferences for eye-catching graphics, colors, text,
and labels. Colors can also be set as partially transparent to see all
your data.
Graph Magnifiers and Inset Zooms are also new, and these options
can show a small section of your data in a larger size.
Transparency is another new option. You can make fill colors, lines,
symbols, and text fully transparent or partially transparent.
Display a single line plot with different colors between points.
Sometimes, you need a different color line to emphasize data in a particular
section of your graph. A color definition is included in the worksheet.
The graph can then use this worksheet column for both the line and symbol
color.
Legends have been significantly updated in Grapher 8. You can add
a link to any portion of the legend to a worksheet cell and show labels
on the left or right. The legend can have multiple columns, multiple rows,
and display text on either side of the symbols and lines.
Plus many more enhancements. See the Web page for more details. Grapher
8 can be upgraded from any eligible previous version of Grapher for only
$119. Free technical support is included with every update. For more information,
visit the Grapher 8 web pages where you can download the brochure or a
free demo version. www.goldensoftware.com.
Graphic to go with the Grapher Article, G8 RadarPlot.zip. Create radar
plots to visually compare multivariate data sets. Apply transparency to
color fill to see all items in a stack.
Oriana v3.10
Oriana is a Microsoft Windows program that calculates the special forms
of sample and inter-sample statistics required for circular data. It also
graphs data in a variety of ways, allowing you to easily demonstrate patterns.
Oriana calculates a variety of single sample statistics as well as inter-sample
comparisons. The basic statistics include the circular mean, length of
the mean vector, circular standard deviation and 95% and 99% confidence
limits. There are also a number of single sample distribution tests, such
as Rayleigh's test of uniformity and Rao's spacing test. Samples can be
compared with various tests such as Watson-Williams test or Mardia-Watson-Wheeler
test. Intersample correlations can also be calculated.
Version 3.10 of Oriana includes several new features, in particular the
addition of two new variable types, more flexible customization of the
graph grid lines, and the ability to plot the critical value of the Rayleigh
test for comparison with the r vector.
More detail about the new features can be seen at: www.kovcomp.com/oriana/ori3verhist.html.
