CEntry
to Engineer Russian Gold Mine
Sandy, UT—CEntry Constructors & Engineers,
a Sandy, Utah-based engineering and construction company has been awarded the
contract for a gold mine feasibility study in Russia. The Matrosova Mine,
Natalkinskoye Project Feasibility Study will include nearly 55,000 hours of
engineering work to open the underground mine, which was closed in 2005, to open
pit operations. The feasibility study will help develop accurate cost
estimates for the mine and design-required facilities including an inpit
crusher, mill, warehouse, offices, truck shop and man camp. The mine will have
an annual capacity of 40 million metric tons of ore.
Feasibility study engineering will take 18 months
to complete, concluding in December of 2008. Noted to be the largest mining
engineering job acquired by CEntry, the hours comprise 25-26 man years of
engineering. Approximately 20 professional engineers will be engaged in this
project through its completion. Governor Jon M. Huntsman, Jr., has
emphasized the demand for engineers in the state of Utah. The need for engineers
to fulfill this CEntry contract is proof positive of the robust Utah economy
that is impacted by international work. The gold mine is located in the
far east region of Russia, 250 miles (400 kilometers) northwest of Magadan, a
city created in 1939 to serve as a port for exporting gold and other metals
mined in the Kolyma region.
CEntry Constructors & Engineers is a
wholly-owned subsidiary of The Layton Companies, a Sandy, Utah-based
construction and engineering services firm. CEntry will serve as a subcontractor
to Knight Piesold and Co., a Denverbased international company that offers
