Copco Invests in Prompt Delivery and Customer Service at its Store in Elko
Atlas Copco Construction Mining Technique USA is
investing over $1M in its store in Elko, Nevada, in order to give faster
deliveries and better service to customers. The expansion and improvements will
lead to an over 25% increase in staff at the Elko store by the end of the year.
The store held an open house on June 6 to show off the improvements to the
facilities to over 300 people. The expansion includes an addition of 3,700 sq.
feet of warehouse space to house a 60 day supply of Swellex rock bolts – an
item that needs to be delivered promptly to eliminate any delay to underground
mining and tunneling work. There is an additional 2,700 sq. feet of office
space, 1,120 sq. feet more of workshop space and a new wash bay. The facility
also boasts a new receiving area and loading dock to further improve delivery
efficiency, new lighting to enable better after-hours production, and upgraded
fire and electrical systems. By the end of July the work to allow more efficient
truck flows into and out of the warehouse areas and provide better year-round
access will be completed with 36,000 sq. feet of asphalt and 10,000 sq. feet of
concrete.
“Prompt supply is crucial in the mining
industry. As our business continues to
grow in the Elko region, we needed to expand and upgrade our facility to
continue to give the most reliable service to our customers,” says Jess
Kindler, Manager of Atlas Copco’s Elko store.
Atlas Copco takes pride in recruiting the right
people to provide the highest level of service to its customers. During the
remainder of the year, the Elko store will be hiring at least 10 more staff, in
addition to the offsite mechanics that have recently been recruited in Idaho and
Washington to support the mines in that district, and two mechanics to provide a
new welding and bore line service. Modeled after the hundreds of Atlas Copco
branches worldwide, the Elko store provides direct sales, service, and
aftermarket support to the mining, construction and drilling industries,
focusing predominantly on underground mining and surface consumables in the
Nevada, Utah, Idaho, New Mexico, Montana, Washington and Wyoming region. Large
products on display at the open house were a Boltec MC rock bolting rig, two
Scooptram® ST 1030 sixyard and one Scooptram® ST 710 four-yard articulated
LHDs, and a Boomer M2C face drilling rig. Alongside these were several surface
drilling products including Tricone bits, a stabilizer and roller deck bushings;
coated and uncoated Swellex rock bolts and pumps; examples of Secoroc bits and
steel for threaded accessories; Secoroc DTH hammers and bits. There was also be
a line/boring welding trailer and a component rebuild display.
