American Society of Safety Engineers “AR, OK, & TX Region” Announces New Safety, Health and Environmental Scholarship

DES PLAINES, IL -- The American Society of Safety Engineers’ (ASSE) Region III (AR, OK and TX) recently announced that Austin, TX-based McComb Construction Company donated $4,000 toward the establishment of a new Region III - McComb Construction Safety, Health and Environmental (SH&E) Scholarship. The scholarship will be open to undergraduate and graduate students in the Region III area pursuing studies in the occupational safety, health and environmental, or related, field.  “The new scholarship reflects Region III’s continued support of ASSE Foundation scholarships and grants,” said Gregory L. Smith, CSP, ASSE Region III vice president. “The scholarship creates a greater connection to educational outreach and the career-building efforts of our ASSE chapters, especially involving our student sections.”  Smith added, “The scholarship also coincides with the ASSE strategic plan, which supports the advancement of the occupational safety, health and environmental profession and emphasizes our commitment to protecting people, property and the environment.” To further increase educational opportunities for students, ASSE chapters, individuals and companies will also have the opportunity to donate additional funds toward the Region III scholarship.
