WIM ELECTS NEW OFFICERS

WIM held their Annual National meeting in California this year and at that meeting new officers were elected. As the National Board selects their officers, it is important to each member that all of the leaders have the passion and commitment to follow through with their identified duties. This commitment insures our organization will continue to grow and that our message about the importance of minerals reaches many more people.

The WIM National Board is proud to announce that Scotty Norman (Nevada) will serve a second year as President, Carol Berry (California) as Vice President, Christine Johnston (Denver) as Treasurer and Jessica Austin (Missouri University of Science & Technology) as Secretary. In addition, Arloa Woolford will continue on another year as the President of the WIM Education Foundation. Vice President is Sally McLeod, Treasurer is Scotty Norman and Secretary is Jackie Dorr.

WIM provides informative programs to educate the general public about the uses of minerals and the vital part they play in our everyday lives. They also promote awareness of the economic impact of mineral production with the national economy. “The reality is few people understand that it takes mining to provide the products everyone needs in today’s world, from automobiles to toothpaste” Betty Peters, Vice President of the California Chapter stated. “We in WIM continually state “If it isn’t grown, it has to be mined!” It’s true. Think about it!
